The Bear Trip
This was the best view I could find

Steve, Donna, and Cromwell
We hiked 8.9 Miles in four hours and fifty four minutes for a average speed
of 2 MPH. The total elevation gain was 1625 feet
Before
After
On a very wet and drizzly beginning, we were hiking
parallel to a stream. Crom stopped to "water a tree", Steve
walked to the bank of the stream, and startled a Mother Bear and her two Cubs.
As Donna was frantically trying to get the plastic wrapped camera out of
Steve’s pack, Steve was softly calling to Crom, more concerned about scaring
the bears than warning Crom. The mother bear decided to make a beeline
for the brush on the opposite side of the trail. She accomplished that
in about three strides and less than 3 seconds. Crom was still
"busy". As the cubs started to follow her, they reached the
top of the bank and noticed Crom. As they trotted towards him, he turned
to see what our excitement was about. When we finally got him to turn
around, the cubs were only a few yards away. One immediately dashed
after Mom, while the other chose to climb a tree. After snapping a few
pictures of the treed cub, we decided mom would soon return and continued on
our climb. (Thanks Steve, I
can’t type that much)
